*Edit* Since writing this article I have since moved from PASS to Pixieset as my online gallery of choice for my clients. You can read more about why I feel Pixieset is the best solution here, "Top 10 Reasons Pixieset Makes Sense for Professional Photographers."

I am a self professed tech nerd. I am always on the search for the latest innovations and products that will better my life and business. Over the last few months I have been using one that is a real game changer in my business. In a very short amount of time PASS has become an extremely valuable asset helping me book more clients and get my images in front of more faces.

Using Shot Lists Will Make You a Better Photographer

When I first started shooting, I would spend absolutely no time planning my shots. I would focus tons of time and energy into every other aspect (location, wardrobe, mood, etc) but in some weird turn of events, it must have slipped my mind that the end goal is "The Shot." How that slipped my mind still baffles me. Instead of putting in the effort to plan what my actual finished images would look like, I found a model, found a location and showed up on shoot day with a plan to wing it.

Playboy Photographer Ales Bravnicar Discusses His Career and the Magazine's Recent Format Change [NSFW]

Late last year, Playboy magazine announced that starting this month, March 2016, the publication would no longer - simply enough - feature nudity. This announcement was immediately received as shocking, welcomed, amazing, derided or just plain hated, depending on who you asked. Curious as to the impetus behind the format change, I asked Jarmo Pohjaniemi about it when we spoke recently, and have since heard from another Playboy master lensist, Ales Bravnicar, about the matter. Bravnicar and I also discussed his phenomenal career and his upcoming retrospective in an upcoming international Playboy edition.

V Magazine Photographs The Human Barbie, Valeria Lukyanova

Many of you may might have already heard of her and she's been unofficially labeled as the 'human doll'. Recently, she's even become a bit of an internet sensation. Meet Valeria Lukyanova. Though she's not unfamiliar to most, V Magazine decided to run a feature on her, shot by photographer, Sebastian Faena.

26.5 Tips On Becoming The Perfect Second Shooter

As a wedding photographer I am always on the hunt for that perfect second shooter. Over the last 4 years I have shot 120+ weddings and worked with over 70 different second shooters. Most of them have been fantastic but I have always thought it would be nice to have a list of second shooter tips I could send them before the wedding day. I'd love to hear what you think of the tips in the comments section below. Let me know what I left out and feel free to share stories (good or bad) about working with second shooters in the past.

You Don't Suck As Much As You Think You Do (And Neither Do These Guys)

I have a horrible habit of being really hard on myself when I hit a snag in my shooting or processing. Anytime I'm in a rut, things can go haywire. I get depressed, don't feel like working, and become pessimistic. I know it's the same for a lot of other shooters too.

One way I get over it is to go back and look at images from way back before I was shooting professionally.

Photos From the Olympics in London 104 Years Ago

Sit back and enjoy this series from the 1908 Olympics. This was the first year that London hosted. It's remarkable how much has changed in just the last 104 years. What would these folks think if they saw the clothing our athletes wear these days? I simply can't stop looking at these! Hope y'all enjoy.

Sports Illustrated Puts Kate Upton in Zero Gravity... Because, for Science?

Kate Upton? Bikini? ZERO GRAVITY? Sports Illustrated just keeps giving me more and more reasons to not read anything about sports. Now don’t get me wrong, Kate Upton is a beauty but these images, on the other hand, are mediocre. Out of focus, multiple white balances, and even some weird facial expressions going on with people in the background. Overall, I am not sure how I feel about the shoot.

From 10 To 60 Years Old: These Models Are The Same Person

Fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin had this tremendously popular spread in Vogue Paris a few years ago showing how makeup, lighting, photography, styling, and post can drastically change the appearance of a person. In her 20's, model Eniko Mihalik, was shot to depict what she would look like through the decades. With the help of the stylist Carine Roitfeld and make-up by Lisa Butler, they completely transformed her in this editorial. How do you think they did?
