Catching Children's Personality in photos

I am a very inexperienced photographer, In the photos below I tried to capture some of the subject's personality.

What do you think?

How do you try to capture a bit of your subjects personality?

No, sorry I don't fee like you captured any personality in these shots. The subject's expression is the first element and the all three shots are very neutral. I'd say work on engaging with your subject before trying to bring out personality with lighting and composition. Peter Hurley is good resource for this. Even if his primary focus doesn't interest you (headshots) his approach to working with his subjects is great.

I dont know if you captured personality, but i do know 9 out of 10 shots in shooting children and teens you must never ask for any poses you must only make conversation with them and shoot. They must forget you ate shooting them. Dariuszterepkaphotography.com
