How To Get the Most Out of the iPhone Camera App

Apple's iPhones have some fantastic built-in cameras that can handle a wide variety of situations with ease, making them a great option for a camera that is always in your pocket. While the stock camera app is designed to provide a simple process that ensures you always get a great shot, there are more powerful options hiding within that interface, and this great video tutorial will show you how to get the most out of them.

Coming to you from Tyler Stalman, this helpful video tutorial will show you how to get more out of the iPhone camera app. The app is designed so that non-photographers can get good results with minimal knowledge or manual intervention. That being said, it has a range of features that allow you a lot more manual control should you so desire. I personally use exposure compensation quite a lot for backlit shots of my puppies. And while the camera app has a lot of customization, you can also do some more advanced editing in post. My favorite is the ability to change the aperture of any images shot using Portrait Mode after the fact, which can be a lot of fun when you are playing with depth of field effects. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Stalman.
