Fstoppers Is Hiring Staff Writers

Are you a photographer or videographer who loves to write? It's that time again! Fstoppers is looking to hire several creative professionals to write for us. If you enjoy reading Fstoppers and think you may have something to offer, we want to hear from you!

To apply, you must be a member of the community with an Fstoppers portfolio. One of our requirements is that you are at least a part-time professional photographer or videographer. If you’re interested in writing for us, send an email with a link to your portfolio and sample writing (blog posts are great) to chelsey@fstoppers.com and write “Fstoppers Job Opening” in the subject line. Send a brief message about you, your work, and what you would want to write about. Your ability to write is very important. Please do not send us a résumé.

This is great news for those who are good at photography and writing. It won't be hard to find the right candidates with so many talented people.

I would tend to agree. I used to be a full time professional photographer, but my life has taken me in a different direction. I have no regrets, and would not change my decisions at all, as my new career actually leaves me more time to shoot what I WANT and branch into other interests such as classes camera repair. While I do not have the time or energy to be a writer right now even if I were eligible, I think having that as a requirement for application does your readership a disservice unless you are looking specifically for someone to write ABOUT being a professional. I know for a fact that there are a number of people who read this site that are not working professionals that are far better photographers than most people making. living as a photographer, and I think a solid portfolio and/or other ways to establish that one has a sufficient knowledge base to write about the topics they intend to produce should trump a "professional" status.

Hoping to hear back, since I sadly did not the last time. Best of luck to anyone and everyone who applies!

Maybe new writers might solve the issue but a writer moderator of some sort to reject the repetitive articles that appear.
