Butterfly and Dew

Hiking the Maine woods is always an adventure and usually a feast for the observant eye. Most hikers I encounter are more concerned with getting through a trail than they are enjoying the little things that nature has to offer. My wife and I recently ventured into a fairly new preserve area that was still being developed. It had rained most of that night and part of the morning, so it was a task in keeping the gear dry. It was my bride of 32 years who spied a butterfly who seemed too wet and cold to fly. The orange and black butterfly colors contrasted perfectly with the plants and dew. I used a Nikon D7100 with an 18-105mm lens (f5.6, 1/100, ISO-100).
