Orb Weaver Spider (Araneidae)

These spiders are very common in North America. To the average person they can be extremely intimidating. But like many insects and animals, they are truly misunderstood. These are great spiders to have around your house as they are great insect hunters. Many people have noticed that having these spiders around their house has lowered the mosquito population in the immediate area. Although they may be creepy looking to most, there is no need to fear these spiders for a couples reasons. One is that they their venom is not considered dangers to humans and two, they are extremely reluctant to even bite. ⠀⠀
