Model: Chantel Petersen
Chantel is not Russian, but the hat she’s wearing makes me think that she could be.
My friend Val and I just returned from a 2 day thrift store shopping excursion in Las Vegas. Found some goodies, which included the entire outfit that Chantel is wearing, including the hat. I used to be overly cautious when it came to wardrobe, so fearful that the wrong piece would detract from the face. I don’t worry so much about that anymore and have embraced more variety. I am not much of a clotheshorse… in fact the very opposite. Friends have undoubtedly noticed that I’ve worn the same black long sleeve top every single day for years. It’s my ‘uniform’. I love getting up in the morning and not have to think about what to wear. Which brings me back on topic. This lack of clothes sense makes choosing outfits for my subjects pretty difficult. A real struggle in fact. I’ve mentioned that I no longer ask the subject to bring clothes and leave it to chance and instead rely solely on my own collected wardrobe… for better or worse. Becoming a ‘stylist’ adds a whole new challenge to taking photos.
