Basketball remote action

January 29, 2015

Sports - and especially basketball - is one of my main fields of photography, and to keep clients and attract new ones. You always need to improve your images and offer something that will 'impress' them.

In recent months I have gotten the chance to use an over-head remote camera at few venues I photograph here in United Kingdom.

And with trial and error - I slowly feel that the images are OK to show to other photographers for critique and comments on how to improve them.

This image was taken with Canon 1DX, with a 70-200mm f4 lens attached to it - at 70mm focal length.
With lighting always changing from the 5 hours before tip-off (when you set the camera up) - I normally set the shutter speed to 1/800 or 1/1000, aperture to f4.5 or f5 - and Auto ISO. This generally gives me ISO 6400-10000 (but 1DX seems to be able to handle that most of the time in reasonable manner).

I know this image isn't set in the studio and hasn't had post processing to make my 'models' pretty ;-) - but any feedback and comments on how to improve photos like this would be much appreciated.
