Sunset on the Bridge to Nowhere

August 29, 2021

When completed in 1966 the Astoria-Megler bridge (Astoria, Oregon and Point Ellice, Washington) was the worlds longest continuous-truss bridge

Megler, Washington is a unincorporated community 3.1 miles away and does not have a US Census count, so critics at the time claimed "It was a bridge to nowhere."

This uncropped photo is from the rooftop of Hotel Elliott in Astoria, Oregon.
