Can a $500 Medium Format Zoom Lens Produce Worthwhile Images?

It is no secret that Fuji has been rewriting the paradigm of camera cost by bringing medium format cameras to the market at prices that compete with full frame options, but now, they are doing the same with medium format lenses, offering a zoom that costs just $500 when purchased as part of a kit with the new GFX 50S II. Is it any good? This great video review takes a first look.

Coming to you from Benj Haisch, this awesome video takes a first look at the new Fujifilm GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 WR lens. At $1,000 alone or $500 when purchased as part of a kit, the 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 is remarkably affordable as far as medium format lenses go. With a 35mm-equivalent zoom range of 28-55mm, a weight of under a pound, and a small size, it looks like a rather portable option with a great walkaround focal length range. When paired with a camera like the GFX 50S II, it brings medium format capabilities at a price that is much more accessible than such a combination traditionally would be, making it a very tempting alternative to similarly priced full frame options. Check out the video above for Haisch's full thoughts on the new lens.
